We can mainly classify zippers in the following two ways:
1. Materials
The zipper uses the following different types of materials:
a) Nylon/coil zipper
The nylon coil zipper is composed of continuous coil chains made of nylon. They are very flexible and are most commonly used in fashion (skirts, dresses, etc.), small bags, and handbags. If the coil is located on the back of the zipper instead of the front, it is an invisible zipper.
b) Plastic/Vislon/Derlin zipper.
Plastic molded zippers have individual plastic components that can be assembled together like a puzzle. They are very durable and are commonly used in outerwear, sportswear, equipment (fitness bags, etc.), and outdoor items.
c) Metal
A metal zipper is composed of individual metal elements. They are usually made of nickel, brass, aluminum, and manganese. They have several finishes, such as gold, antique gold, black oxidized brass, nickel aluminum, and special paint. They are usually used in jeans, leather products, jackets, sportswear, and bags.
2. Function.
According to their functions, zippers can be divided into the following ways:
a) Closed zippers are non detachable and typically use sliders to open and close them. The bottom stopper is composed of individual parts and does not allow the chain to completely separate. These zippers are used for pants, jeans, bags, boots, etc
. b) Open (separate) the end of the zipper to separate. The end is connected by a box pin mechanism set at the lower end of the zipper. Zippers are closed with zippers and are typically used for jackets and other outerwear.
c) The ends of the bidirectional zipper are also separated. The bottom slider allows for movement from the bottom of the zipper. These zippers are used for raincoats, sportswear, and sleeping bags.
d) When the dual-purpose head to head zipper is closed, there are two sliding buckles in the center of the chain. The zipper can be opened by pulling the slider towards the stopper, but it cannot be separated due to the two stoppers at the end that cannot be separated. These zippers are mainly used for luggage, backpacks, and suitcases.
e) When the zipper is closed, the bi-directional tail to tail zipper has pull heads at opposite ends. These zippers can be opened by pulling the sliders towards each other, but they cannot be separated. They are used for work clothes and anything else.
